It is by far one of the most charming and picturesque places to visit in northern Italy with the old city (Citta'lta) atop the hill - to this day still completely incircled by its original fortified wall - looking out over the more modern lower city (Bergamo bassa).

you will want to most definitely spend an afternoon and evening wandering the small's narrow, coble-stoned streets and visiting the quaint shops and resturaunts near the main scuare (piazza vechia)

Walking through Citta'lta is like walking back in time to the early 13th century when it was once a Vinician City. Truly a must see.
